Arriving in Hanoi
We
left on the night train from Hue. Always a bit of an adventure getting
onto a train in Vietnam, but this time we had a soft sleeper booked so
ready for the overnight train we were.

Do the train doors on the Vietnam railways have locks?
Yes they do.....
We arrived at 4am into Hanoi and I had forgotten to write down the name of our hotel. So I asked our Mai Linh taxi driver to take us to Hoan Kiem Lake. I knew our hotel was near here but had no street name. Well I also didn't know that the streets are deserted at this time of the morning so we waited on the street corner of Hang Gai & Luong Van Can until we were rescued by a lovely Vietnamese lady, who made us some coffee & a pastry she somehow made this all happen from a small basket she carried. She even managed to find us some little stools. Over the next few hours she also rescued some Russian tourists and a few other strays and she looked after all of us. Until the streets filled with people & then she disappeared. We eventually found our hotel.......but that's another story.
