BOOK the best hotel in Nha TRang
We arrived in Nha Trang by Plane. It took about an hour from the airport to the main city. I think it cost about $20 or 400,000 dong.
We went by meter taxi. Only ever use Mai Linh Taxi and ask them to use the meter...which they seem to do automatically. Never expensive and the drivers are trustworthy and friendly even though they never speak English. Just make sure you have your address written down or a map to point too. They always got us to our destination.
Ha Van Rooftop Restaurant and Bar is fantastic.
Breakfast is included in the room and was delicious. Fresh fruit, omlette's, baguette, banana pancake or delicious Pho. Great way to start the day and even though we had rainy weather while we were there due to the cyclone in the Philippines, we just had to jump in the lift to eat and not navigate the wet streets to find great food.
Our room was nice and big and the shower devine....Unfortunatly this set our president for our hotel choice throughout our trip...
We were so impressed with the staff, their helfulness without being pushing was top class. Although they had tours and helped us with our daily choice of activity, they never pushed us to book with them.
Banana Shake. YUM!

The Ha Van Hotel has an Ice cream & cake shop in the foyer Yum! They gave Bailey a chocolate cake for his Birthday! (which they arranged as a surprise next door at Yen's Restaurant. So kind and generous. Thank's Frederick!

Food in Vietnam
The food at Yen's was out of this world. Unfortunately my pictures don't do it justice. I was just to busy eating to get the camera settings right.
Nha Trang was the kids favorite city and this is why....
VINPEARL LAND Nha Trang
Ok the weather was cool windy and wet, but don't let that get in the way of a good fun park. Vinpeal Land has water slides, fair rides like rollercoasters and the Rock n roller, arcade games in a mountain ( all free after paying the park enterance fee) and the kiosk food is even cheap & good.
Even on a windy wet day we still had a ball. Perfect Day for my sons birthday.
For Cyclo Drivers who are renound for somehow ripping you off we actually has a good ride. However we did go way out of our way to get to a bank which closed just as we got there at 11:30 and I didn't have the right change as agreed with the divers. So I went to a few shops to break down my huge notes of Dong ie 500,000d note ($25) to pay 40,000d for two cyclo's ( $2 ) which was much harder than you can imagine. No one likes big money. But the smiles here are real it all worked in the end.

RETRO AMUSEMENT PARK NHA TRANG
On Trang Phu the beach front road at the southern end of Nha Trang, you'll see a Farris Wheel sticking up out of the trees and a small fun park that looks deserted. We went down one night to check it out as the kids kept pestering us. We tried to convince them it was shut down as it had looked deserted every time we past it. But they wouldn't listen, go figure ... So we walk down one night and low and behold it was open and operating. There were no other visitors so we had the place to ourselves. All the rides were maned and operating.
This place was a step back in time...Super Retro, the type of place you just wish you could travel back in time and visit.
A MUST VISIT IN NHA TRANG

Street food in Vietnam
These were potato fritters ummm.... made fresh, nice and hot. And we didn't get sick, not even once from the food!
With the weather being lousy we had to find a few other things to do in Nha Trang instead of the diving and snorkeling trips I'd hoped for. The dive shops weren't even running boat trips the weather was that crappy.
THAP BA HOT SPRINGS
and MUD BATHS
How funny is this sign. Imaging what I looked like trying to explain why we were laughing so much to the Vietnamese attendants.
That's my husband & son in front of us on the bike. My 9 year old daughter is videoing from behind me ... Parenting 101 - FAIL
FISHING VILLAGE ADVENTURE
We had to book a tourist boat to get to the Island as the Ferry apparently only go to the island in the morning and back to the mainland in the afternoon. At first I was gutted as it was more expensive and not as orthentic as I usually like to do things, but it did work out in the end as they just came and picked us up when we were ready to go... easier with he kids. And the boat driver and his side kick were really nice.

Same spot, the well is in the background near the yellow wall. It now seems unused.
This was our lunch this day. The lady in pink was making some sort of rice pancake thing that had a rice milky sauce., you then put chilli sauce on top. The kids really like it, so did we.
Sorting out the catch of the day.
Hair cut anyone.
Looking for your kids. Try the Internet Cafe.
Hon Mieu had changed a lot since I was there in 1993 however it still has a beautiful innocent charm about it. I wish we had of spent more time here. Maybe the whole day....
Leaving Nha Trang
Although I booked 4 days ahead of time the train was fully book for the day we wanted to leave. DON"T PANIC ( I was panicing) Ha Van Hotel were fabulous. They just kept trying till there was a cancellation on the train.
HOWEVER! there was only 4 beds in a hard sleep cabin available, so we had to suck it up and book that. The train left at 12 midnight which is why we all look frightfull in the photo below. Again the kids amazed us with no complaining. We survived the trip to Danang on the Hard sleep and having learned my lesson I now had all the train trips booked ahead of time....
